Tanzanite is a rare stone that was discovered in the 1960s in small area at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro in Northern Tanzania. It was named after Tanzania by Tiffany & Co. Tanzanite is so rare that it is known as the “gemstone of a generation” because this generation will be the last one able to buy stones from the primary market as supply is expected to run out in 25 years.
